Abstract
It is shown that the corrosion resistance of titanium increases as a result of deposition of molybdenum-carbide coatings from melts. The cathode passivating titanium with molybdenum-carbide coatings is much more active than the cathode made of molybdenum carbide. In solutions of sulfuric acid (9.5 mol. parts) at 70–80°C, the molybdenum-carbide coatings passivate titanium and, as a result, its corrosion resistance becomes 2000–4000 times higher.
