Abstract

In the present study a commercial soft PZT is investigated in tests with different electric fields in the unpoled and ⊥-poled state (i.e. polarisation perpendicular to the specimen length axis). Strain measurements in pure tension and compression tests were carried out for the unpoled and the poled material. Strongly increased plastic strains were found for negative electric fields of about −0.5 kV/mm. Positive fields result in a strain reduction.
