Abstract
This article reflects on recent changes in the document supply (DS) environment of the UK and their impact on the DS service of the University of Bristol. Policies for loans, difficult material, forthcoming changes in copyright legislation, consortia and cross-sectoral co-operation are discussed. The article also argues that the skills required by DS librarians enable them to build successful careers. It highlights the need for better communication and better mechanisms for debating changes.
