Abstract

Competitive intelligence is the process of monitoring the competitive environment to help make informed decisions about marketing, R&D, and long-term business strategies. To be effective it should be a continuous, systematic process involving the legal and ethical collection of information, subsequent controlled analysis, and the dissemination of actionable intelligence to decision makers. Describes the concept of competitive intelligence, the primary data sources and the techniques for constructing an effective competitive intelligence programme.
