Abstract
In making color reproductions of tortricoid moths associated with the genera Malus and Crataegus, an enlarged photograph of a specimen reared from the larval stage is utilized. By means of half-body tracings a bilaterally symmetrical sketch with exact proportions can be prepared. Brush techniques for application of the gouache water colors so as to reproduce the scaled surface texture characteristic of these moths are described. Illustrative figures are provided.
