Abstract

The female adult cereal leaf beetle, Oulema melanopus (L.) (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae), required a period of diapause to reach sexual maturity. The adult male was always sexually mature and needed only to be with a receptive female to become active and disseminate viable sperm. Male activity appeared to be governed by the activity of the female.
