Abstract

The larval mines of Nepticula juglandifoliella Clemens, Lithocolletis caryacfoliella Clemens, L. caryacalbella Chambers, and Coptodisca lucifluella Clemens have characteristics in pecan leaves that can be distinguished on the basis of horizontal and vertical extension in the leaflet, coloration, and area of leaflet in which they occur. The larvae of the 4 lepidopterous species have distinctive methods of frass disposition or disposal and of pupation and escape from the leaf.
