Abstract
Host suitability studies indicate that insect eggs are preferred by Geocoris punctipes (Say) over live or dead insects and, in general, inactive prey are more suitable than active prey. Potato tubermoth larvae, Phthorimaca operculella (Zeller), and green beans; tubermoth eggs; tubermoth eggs and green beans; and eggs of Lygus hespcrus Knight in green beans were suitable diets for G. punctipes. Two-spotted spider mites, Tetranychus urticae Koch, and green beans; pea aphids, Acrythosiphon pisum (Harris) ; pea aphids and green beans; and nymphs of L. hesperus and green beans were unsuitable diets.
