Abstract
A proposed phylogeny of New World genera of Iassinae based on weighted derived characters in inferred cladistic sequence is presented and characters are discussed. Cladistic inferences were fitted to a previously determined classical classification that attempted to delimit natural groups of taxa. Attempts to compute a Wagner network and tree were unsuccessful; the numerous interpreted instances of parallel evolution are probably, at least partially, responsible for this failure.
