Abstract

Vaucherias are important elements in the vegetation of the shores and mud-flats of Bermuda. Previously reported species are of the Piloboloideae, and the authors add here another member of that section, V. nasuta Taylor and Bernatowicz, n. sp., which combines the sessile beaked oögonium found in certain other sections with the antheridia peculiar to the Piloboloideae, namely, antheridia supported on an empty suffultory cell and discharging through tubular pores. Also reported is V. dichotoma (L.) C. Ag., it species with distinctive large spherical oögonia and sessile antheridia on separate plants.
