Abstract
Patch grafts consisting of dwarfmistletoe-infected bark tissues provide effective means for infecting Pinus ponderosa Laws. After 6 years in the field, 48 percent of the grafts bound in place with grafting rubbers were successful. Additional protection of the grafts with asphalt emulsion, or by covering with plastic and aluminum foil, did not improve results. Failures were attributed to death of the branch, to loosening of the patch due to wind movement and handling, or to poor initial fitting of the patch.
