Abstract
New interspecific hybrids were created between the fall-flowering elm species Ulmus parvifolia and U. serotina and nine spring-flowering species. The species used as male parents represented every taxonomic section and series in the genus. Thus, it would appear that there are no strong genetic barriers to gene interchange among diploid elm species. The tetraploid U. americana failed to produce hybrids with either fall-flowering species. Forest Sci. 18:283-289.
