Abstract
Seedlings of Ailanthus altissima (Mill.) Swingle derived from an isolated tree flowered four weeks after transplanting. The floral morphology and phenology of the flowering seedlings is described. Analysis of seed sources indicated that early flowering is not a rare occurrence in ailanthus and that it is controlled by both genetic and environmental factors. Forest Sci. 19:237-239.
