Abstract

Artificial methods of control of the western pine beetle are only moderately successful at best but always expensive. Biological methods of control hold considerable promise. The black-bellied clerid was found to be the most effective of the predators of the western pine beetle. Methods are described for favoring the clerid population on control areas.
