Abstract

The four papers which follow were presented at a meeting of the Allegheny Section, Society of American Foresters, at Baltimore, February 25. All four authors are professionally educated foresters. Their comments are of more than usual interest because they tell how important the project is to the two War Production Board divisions concerned with lumber and pulpwood, how the project is organized at the Forest Service regional level, and finally how it operates in an important forest products state. Because the Timber Production War Project is one of the most important war-service activities of the forestry profession, the JOURNAL OF FORESTRY will report on its progress and accomplishments from time to time.
