Abstract

This paper presents observations on the development of forest stands in the pine-hardwood type of South Arkansas during the last twenty years. Industrial and social trends not usually thought of in this connection are emphasized as being influential in bringing the forest to its present well-recognized state of advancement. In his conclusions the author takes his stand among the optimists concerning the pine forests of the region.
