Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to present a workable method for the classification of sugar piue-producing land in California into broad categories according to its expected yield of merchantable sugar pine timber. The method is designed for use by agencies engaged in the protection of sugar pine stands against the white pine blister rust as an aid in determining the priority of pine stands for control treatment. Although based on data from California, with appropriate modifications it should be equally applicable to stands in Oregon.
