Abstract
Planners should consider the submersion tolerance of trees on river and lake flood plains used for recreation. Ten species of seedlings were submerged from 1 to 4 weeks. Most tolerant were green ash, baldcypress and silver maple; intermediate were pecan, eastern cottonwood, honeylocust and bur oak; and least tolerant were boxelder, Siberian elm and black walnut.
