Abstract
Large variations in before-tax real rates of return were found when application of fertilizer to Douglas-fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) in the Pacific Northwest was compared with application to slash pine (Pinus elliottii var. elliottii) in the Southeast. Top rates, however, were close to 30 percent in both regions. Prices and costs for 1976 and price trends developed for the 1980 Resources Planning Act Assessment were used in the comparison.
