Abstract
A tree-concentric procedure to adjust for edge effect in horizontal point and fixed-area circular plot sampling is reviewed. This procedure yields unbiased estimates and is relatively easy to apply in the field. The procedure is developed for rectangular forest areas and circular plots, but can be modified to handle other shaped forest areas or plots. An example is discussed in detail, and tables are included to facilitate use of the procedure. Guidelines are provided as to when edge effect bias should be eliminated. North. J. Appl. For. 4:213-216, December 1987.
