Abstract

Sharp lancinating pain on inhalation as one type of atypical facial pain may be indicative of nerve exposure to the nasal airstream. A case is reported demonstrating iatrogenic nerve exposure of V2 which occurred as a complication of antrostomy. Development of a traumatic neuroma followed with gradual worsening of the pain. A method of management that was adequate in controlling the pain is described. Anatomic and surgical implications are discussed.
