Abstract

China is both a significant part of the world and a world unto itself. It is both sophisticated and naive, urbane and provincial. It is one of the oldest civilizations in the world, yet in many ways still a developing country. To live and work successfully in China requires attempting to understand from a Chinese perspective many of the situations you will encounter.
