Abstract

DocNow Urgent Care, which consists of two urgent care centers in Troy and Rochester Hills, Michigan, decided to use its existing e-mail infrastructure to help staff members get ready for its 2009 Joint Commission survey and ensure continuous compliance with Joint Commission standards. The urgent care organization used Daily Joint Commission Tid-bits sent through e-mails to help educate all levels of staff about requirements in the newly revised Comprehensive Accreditation Manual for Ambulatory Care and help prepare them on what they needed to know before an on-site survey occurred. This article discusses how the organization effectively communicated with all levels of staff as part of its survey preparation process.
