Abstract

The influence of the variation in alkyl chain length at the nitrogen atom of ammonium group-containing siloxane surfactants on the adsorption energy and lateral interaction energy at the mercury/electrolyte interface has been investigated by means of the concentration dependence of the differential capacity. The results show that for various siloxane backbones, successive addition of methylene groups to the alkyl leads to a corresponding successive increase in the adsorption energy.
