Abstract
De-aerated aqueous solutions of thymine and uracil were irradiated by γ-radiation from a 60Co source. Thymine-decomposition products were dihydrothymine, 5-hydroxymethyl uracil, cis and trans thymine glycols and 5 (6) hydroxyhydrothymine. Uracil products were as previously reported. Initial yields of all products identified have been measured.
