Abstract
This contribution deals with the geographical distribution and the history of a wild pear’s regional name. This kind of pear, the so-called panta-pear, is typical for the Eastern Pontic area. The issues concerning the place of the fruit and its name in the local population's daily life and folklore, as well as in the toponymy of the Turkish-Georgian boarder zone are also elucidated.
