Abstract

The host-parasite relations of Trichodorus viruliferus on apple roots have been studied under field conditions by means of direct observation, time-lapse cinematography and soil and/or root sampling. The most striking feature is the massing of nematodes around the elongating zone of one type of young root. Some possible mechanisms of such an accumulation are discussed. Data of the distribution of T. viruliferus near the root and at varying distances from it are given and the histopathology of injured roots is described.
