Abstract

According to a draft of the "Anthropology of the New Testament" done before and after the works of H. Wolff, the author discusses basic questions pertaining to Old Testament anthropology based on the concept of the person, the social sphere and the perception of the world. Whereas the body-soul context is essential for the concept of person in the Old Testament, and the human world (social sphere) in ancient Israel was heavily influenced by the idea that the individual is always a part of the entire community, the world view in the Old Testament maintains that it is entitled to structure reality as a whole and to provide suggestions for interpreting the way the individual organizes his life. In conclusion, the author reflects on theological anthropology and its understanding of man as a "man of God".
