Abstract
Raman spectra have been obtained from liquid methylcyclohexane over a range of temperatures (–64°C + 64°C) and pressures (1 bar to 5 kbar). Comparison of the pattern of band intensity changes as a function of temperature and pressure indicates that an increase in pressure shifts the conformational equilibrium in the liquid to favor the equatorial form.
