Abstract
The Riverside Park Water Reclamation Facility (RPWRF) in Spokane, WA normally discharges treated effluent to the Spokane River. The City would like to reuse a portion of the treated effluent for applications such as golf course irrigation and in-plant uses. Ultrafiltration (UF) and disinfection using ultraviolet (UV) irradiation were selected for a demonstration program to evaluate treatment of secondary effluent to achieve Class A effluent quality. The reuse demonstration pilot at RPWRF has been continuously operational since it was commissioned in August 2007 and the effluent is reused at the Downriver golf course. This paper focuses on the operation of the membrane system, which uses a single header submerged hollow fiber UF module. The results to date indicate excellent membrane performance at all fluxes tested. The ability of the UF membrane tank to act as a concentrator has also been investigated.
