Abstract
Evaluating research projects frequently constitutes a challenge to companies, because they are often characterised by considerable complexity and high insecurity. This paper aims at classifying distinct methods of evaluating innovation projects. For that purpose expert interviews have been conducted in a first step. Thereafter the results of the qualitative research have been verified in a survey with 78 technology-intensive companies from four different industrial clusters. The results shall enable companies to apply their resources that are allocated for innovations more effectively and efficiently by the help of the right valuation methods.
