Abstract
Many semi-active suspension systems have been studied in various literatures in order to achieve lower energy consumption with performance similar to the full-active suspension system. Sky-hook control can achieve a good ride quality. However, acceleration sensors and stroke sensors are necessary and the cost of the system is still high. The balance control can reduce the number of acceleration sensors, but the performance in low frequency domain is not satisfying. This paper presents a new sliding mode balance fuzzy controller for a semi-active suspension system, which only uses stroke sensors. The effectiveness of the controller is verified by experimental study.
