Abstract
The ability of an entomologist to keep abreast of the present-day volume of published literature relating to his own area of specialization, not to mention his usual multidisciplinary interests, is becoming more difficult each year as the amount of published literature increases. It is estimated that the amount of published scientific information will double every 8 years. This estimate does not take into account the problem of not having access to unpublished institutional and government-sponsored research, which may comprise an even greater volume of information than the published material.
