Abstract
Not everyone now concerned with insect pest management knows that there is a local society called the Insecticide Society of Washington, that has been meeting once a month from October to May for 44 years. It is relatively unknown because it does not publish the research of its members in its own journal as does the Entomological Society of Washington. Nevertheless, the ISW has certainly been a factor in the advancement of insect pest management since its founding. It is time to tell the story of ISW from its beginning to the present, but no one qualified member has volunteered to do it. I have accepted the partial task of describing its founding.
