Abstract
The demise of entomology as a recognized entity in the organizational structure of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in July 1972 and the subsequent failure to designate an overall leader of entomological research created an interest in the leaders of previous years. The following chronology and comments are presented in the hope that they will be of value.
