Abstract
In the USA, vast sums of money are spent on health care. A percentage of this cost relates to the management of medical technology. In this article, the authors consider the Management of Medical Technology (MMT) as an area for academic pursuit. They consider it as a new field, a complex area of research, education and practice which they have endeavoured to bring to the attention of academics and practitioners.
