Abstract
A gel based on aqueous solutions of cysteine and silver nitrate is obtained for the first time. The possibility of gelation in the presence of competing ions and ligands is studied. Structural transformations occurring at an early stage of the gelation are studied by the dynamic light scattering, IR Fourier spectroscopy, and viscometry. The process of the self-organization in the system under consideration is assumed to be accompanied by the formation of fractal structures.
