Abstract

It is shown that transformations of unstable clusters, intermediates of the borohydride reduction of silver cations, in weakly alkaline polyacrylate aqueous solutions are governed by the competition between the processes of their oxidation, coalescence into larger particles, and reduction of silver cations. Moreover, these processes depend on the loading of a polyanion with cations and can be controlled by the addition of Ag+ ions.
