Abstract

The kinetics of thorium(IV) nitrate extraction from aqueous salt solutions with a composite material (CM) based on a polymeric support and trialkylmethylammonium nitrate at T = 293.15–333.15 K was studied. The rate-determining step of the process is diffusion through the phase boundary (film kinetics). The mass-transfer coefficients in the aqueous and CM phases and the mass-transfer constants were determined, and the effective activation energies (E a) were calculated from their temperature dependences. The mass-transfer constants increase with an increase in the NaNO3 content in the aqueous phase. The E a values are practically independent of the NaNO3 concentration in the aqueous phase.
