Abstract

Critical reviews have been prepared for the ternary systems formed by iron, tungsten, and as third components, the elements cobalt, chromium, molybdenum, nickel, silicon, and titanium. Available experimental information in the metallurgical literature has been consulted and compared, and the results are presented in the form of projections of liquidus and solidus surfaces, and isothermal diagrams illustrating the constitutions in the solid state. Discrepancies between the available data for the ternary systems and those for more recently examined relevant binary systems are pointed out. In some cases these are serious, and it is demonstrated that in several cases further experimental investigations are needed
