Abstract
A programme to assess the suitability of thermally sprayed aluminiumalumina composite coatings for antiskid applications on military landing mats has shown potential benefits in performance and cost over the currently specified epoxy coating system. Further advantages are the elimination of volatile organic compound (VDC) emission during coating and the fact that the sprayed coatings do not suffer from ultraviolet degradation.
