Abstract
Regrettably, the obvious fact that textiles were used in the production of arms and armour in medieval Poland is not confirmed by written records. However, the important advantage is the variety of surviving documents. Archaeological finds, written records, as well as iconographic sources provide information about the use of textiles in the production of all types of arms and armour, horse harness and battle ensigns. This article explores and assesses the evidence using it to demonstrate the range of textiles used in many types of armoury, sometimes in quite surprising ways.
