Abstract
Although it appears that sales and usage of self-reducing tacheometers remain at signfiicant levels, their continued purchase and use is largely unjustified. The combination of scale reading theodolites (of comparable accuracy) with inexpensive continuous memory programmable electronic pocket calculators provides a cheaper and generally more satisfactory solution.
