Abstract
Outlines the development of National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) in the petroleum industry. In recent years in this industry a number of clear trends have emerged. There was therefore a call for the development of a number of NVQs with relevance to particular areas of the industry. As a result NVQs were established covering occupations such as bulk liquid warehousing, refinery process operation, oil boiler installation and maintenance and forecourt management. The NVQ consists of five separate units and is designed to cover all aspects of lubricant manufacture.
