Abstract
A method of calculating the drop height of a grinding body in a planetary mill, which is based on determination of the position of the body at the moment of separation from, and contact with the drum is proposed. The distance from the center of the drum to the current position of a ball in the drum is a determining parameter of the calculation. The procedure makes it possible to calculate accurately the drop height of grinding bodies for both planetary and conventional drum mills.
