Abstract
This paper presents the results of an experimental study of smoke movement in a 10-storey building. Eight full-scale experiments including four real fuel fires and four propane fires were conducted in the National Research Council Canada (NRCC)’s 10-storey experimental tower to generate smoke movement data that can be used for the validation of computer models. The heat release rate (HRR) of fire cannot be measured in this tower, so to estimate the HRR of fuel-package fires in this study, an approach using propane as a fuel was developed to reproduce the temperature distribution of various fuel-package tests.
