Abstract

Haralampos M Moutsopoulos is an Emeritus Professor in the Medical Schools of Ioannina and Athens Universities (Greece). He was trained in the USA in internal medicine, rheumatology and immunology, and has studied pathogenesis, clinical presentation and therapy of autoimmune systemic disorders. He is considered a world expert on Sjögren’s syndrome and has published over 550 scientific articles and authored editorials, reviews and book chapters. His scientific work is highly cited and has received national and international awards.Athanasios G Tzioufas is a Professor of Rheumatology/Immunology in the Medical School of the University of Athens (Greece). He was trained in Ioannina (Greece) in internal medicine, rheumatology and immunology. His main interests are the pathogenetic mechanisms, diagnosis and treatment of systemic autoimmune rheumatic diseases and, particularly, Sjögren’s syndrome. He is a member of numerous scientific committees in Greece and worldwide. He is a reviewer for six peer-reviewed scientific journals and a reviewer for another 20 scientific journals. He has published over 200 scientific articles and has given more than 50 lectures as an invited speaker in scientific conferences and universities in Europe, USA, Latin America and the Far East.
