Abstract

Monolithic frequency filters consist of mechanically coupled piezoelectric resonators vibrating in trapped energy modes. For thickness-twist and thickness-shear vibrations in AT-cut quartz and piezoceramics the appropriate equations of motion are reduced to one differential equation. Its solutions combined with boundary conditions yield frequency equations which are given in the general case of n coupled resonators. Computed eigenfrequencies are compared with measurements on 5.5 MHz AT-cut quartz platelets.
