Abstract

This paper analyzes the acoustic radiation field produced in a hard-walled cylindrical fluid duct by a transversely vibrating unbaffled rod.The radiated pressure is shown to have maxima when the rod wavelength and frequency match those of the surrounding fluid – a dual coincidence effect. The magnitude of the radiated pressure is found to be negligible compared to the blocked pressure component of the total acoustic field exciting the rod.
