Abstract
Input mechanical admittance and transfer admittance measurements have been made at the ends of the sound post of the violin. Velocities of the top and back plate at the sound post are in general not equal over the range of the instrument. The forces between the sound post and the plates were measured: these forces are not equal in general over the range of the instrument. A small impedance head developed for these measurements should enable more complete measurements to be made in order that the sound post might be described in an analogous mechanoacoustical circuit for the violin.
